Dusty Domains is a wrap! As a new initiative piloted by the fantastic team at Netlify, Dusty Domains was a call to action to turn an unused domain into a published website on Netlify.
In turn, Netlify and several other partners would provide matching contributions to a few select charities, and Hasura was grateful to be asked to participate!
Whether the sites were the authoritative guide to using dash punctuation, putting together resources for accessible design, or creating a pet match-making service (yes, really), all put together the sites raised over $100k, spread across Code2040, Resilient Coders, STEM Tank, and Black Girls Code.
We even got to use one of our new features in contributing to the Dusty Domains site! Using the new REST Connectors, we created a GraphQL API wrapper for the underlying data in AirTable, providing a real-time data feed for the funding bar graph, how neat is that?
Real-time APIs with tooling like Hasura and Netlify Functions are just some of the ways the modern Jamstack is changing how fast websites are built, and deployed.
Thanks again to the whole Netlify team for coming up with such a great idea and asking us to be a part of it. And a big shout out to the other sponsors who contributed to making this a great end-of-year for some well deserving organizations.
